Under The Shadow Of The Full Moon & Eclipse

These are times when great truths are revealing through cracked strange vessels.
— Ellias Lonsdale, Inside Degrees

It was only a matter of weeks ago that I was in a group discussing the Kintsugi pottery of Japan - the beauty of cracked and broken pots and crockery lovingly restored to something more beautiful than they were before.

This full moon is both the illumination of our broken or vulnerable places, and the opportunity to shine a light between the cracks. What we have thought of in the past as our shadow, becomes our greatest asset and unique offering to the world.

Just as the gold or silver between the cracks makes the brokenness of each piece even more visible, so too are we called to reveal formerly hidden parts of ourselves with courage and faith.

This eclipse (through major life changes and shaking up of our psyche) is our golden repair (金繕い). Allow the hand of the Creator to lovingly restore you to even greater beauty - because of your suffering, loss and experiences.

The desire for flawless perfection - an unobtainable standard - so apparent in the West, belies a deep disconnection from our true nature and purpose.

Dare we show our brokenness?

Or rather, dare we show our wholeness in its beautiful, majestic, imperfect and radiant form?

It might seem vulnerable to go through this process ourselves, which is why we need to support one another. Can we muster the collective courage to push past the perceived undesirability of imperfection?

Has this full moon and eclipse season revealed you as the cracked strange vessel that you are?

My hope is that you are dancing with the joy that shines through your cracks and imperfections… dancing with the joy of perfection through imperfection!

The scars we carry with us may cause us to feel shame, or we may revel in the beauty and wisdom they have taught us through pain. Either way, we carry them onwards - so we may as well choose to carry them with grace and dignity.

So, at this full moon and eclipse, I wish for you to:

Celebrate the gifts you have been given.

Let the gold of your soul and the spark of your own unique self, shine out into the world.

Embrace your vulnerabilities, deepest pain and your heart’s desires.

Speak your truth.

Know that the places you have been hurt and healed are a gift to the world.

Experience the joy of your true self.

-

Wishing you much love during this season, as you say a forever goodbye to the old (it was broken all along) and welcome the new…
